Stay Home, That's Why We're Connected

Stay Home. Refrain from going out of the house if it is not needed. Voluntary restraint of action. I don't even see my friends or acquaintances. Like many of you, I live like that every day.

My style of work is to move and connect. But I can't go to Indonesia or Fukushima, so I'm spending time with my family at home in Tokyo.

Fortunately, there are azaleas and other flowers in bloom in my garden right now, which is very relaxing.

In the midst of all this, we received a request for additional rice from the Naruko Rice Project, which we have always been indebted to.

The project produces and sells rice called "Yukimusubi" as a practice of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), which directly connects farmers and consumers and allows consumers to support farmers.

Yukimusubi" is a revival of an indigenous cold-resistant variety. By selling directly to consumers, farmers cultivate native varieties on idle or abandoned land, which is expanding year by year, and work together with consumers to protect local agriculture and promote regional revitalization.

The project operates an rice-omusubi shop in Tokyo called Musubiya, which also functions as an antenna shop, but it was closed due to the effects of the new Corona virus, so there was a surplus of "Yukimusubi" that had been prepared for Musubiya. It was a request for an order to buy the surplus rice.

It was just in time for us to order more rice, so we ordered it right away. I'm looking forward to coming it.

This was followed by a call from a friend who farms in Fukui Prefecture. His farm has been shipping baby leaves to high-end restaurants and other professionals, but the new Corona virus has caused restaurants to close and lose their places.

He has started selling these now-lost baby leaves to those who want them, and he is offering them at a special discount of 972 yen (tax included) from the regular price of 1,890 yen (100g x 5 bags / set).

The baby leaves at his place are clearly different from the ones sold in the market, partly because they are for professional use. You won't find a better deal on a baby leaf than this.

For the time being, they are preparing 200 sets. Order sooner rather than later.

While you can't physically see your friends and acquaintances, it's never hard to connect. I'm sure that this kind of small exchange of ideas is happening now on an individual level.

Thinking of each other when something goes wrong. The stay home will not prevent it.

Stay home, maybe that's why we're connected. I believe that such heart-to-heart communication will give us a glimpse of the new society that we want to create after the new Corona.
